Trails

According to the President’s Commission on Americans Outdoors report, 155 million people walk for pleasure, 93 million bicycle and 41 million hike on trails.

Trails provide 43 million people access to nature study, photography, small-game hunting and camping.

In addition, 10 million people ride horses on trails, five million backpack and 11 million ski.

“Millions of Americans enjoy trails, but only a small percentage volunteer to maintain them,” said David Lillard, acting president for the American Hiking Society.
