Call Forest Service Before Taking To Woods

Bear hunters, hikers, mountain bikers and other recreationists should check with the Forest Service for access conditions before attempting outings this spring.

Many roads and trails in Panhandle forests are closed because of rain damage, lingering snowpack and downed timber, Idaho Panhandle National Forest officials say.

Following is a sampling of roads and trails that have been closed in the region’s popular recreation areas.

St. Joe Ranger District

North Fork-St. Joe River Trail 300, from Forest Highway 50 to Squaw Creek Campground.

Milwaukee Grade Road 300, from Road 456 to the junction of Road 506.

Loop Road 326, from Road 456 to Road 506.

Cliff Creek Road 506, from Road 326 to the junction with Road 391.

Abandoned Road, formerly Road 456, beginning from its junction with Road 1997 to its junction with Road 456.

Fishhook Creek Road 301 from Lick Creek Road 753 to Avery-Timber Creek Road 201.

St. Joe River Road (Forest Highway 50) from Avery east.

Marble Creek Road 321 from Boulder Creek Road 396 to Eagle Creek Road 758.

Eagle Creek Road 758 from Marble Creek Road 321 to milepost 5 on Road 758.

Wallace Ranger District:

East Eagle Creek Road 152 from its junction with Road 3019 to the Idaho/Montana border.

West Fork Eagle Creek 805, a half-mile past the junction of the East Fork Eagle Creek, and the West Fork of Eagle Creek to the end of the road.

Uranus Ridge Connection Road 991 from the junction with Road 207 to the junction with Road 990.

Lake Elsie Road 2354 between the junction with Road 264 and Lake Elsie.

Sandpoint Ranger District

Lightning Creek Road 419 from 3.3 miles north of Clark Fork to the Mud Creek Crossing.

Keeler-Rattle Creek Road 419 from its junction with Lightning Creek Road to a half-mile west of the Rattle Creek Bridge.

Kilroy Road 2711 beginning with its junction with Road 2706.
