Dollar Loses Ground To Yen

Signs of recovery in the Japanese economy and a lack of support from leading economic powers for the dollar left the greenback lower against the yen on Monday.

The dollar meanwhile rose against the German mark, which continues to be battered from last week’s interest rate cut by the Bundesbank.

As of 4 p.m. in New York, the dollar traded at 1.5168 marks, up from 1.5120 at the same time Friday. The dollar traded at 106.65 yen, down from 107.36 yen.
