Character actor Grady Sutton, whose comic roles included supporting parts in “The Bank Dick” and “Alice Adams,” is dead at age 89.

Sutton died Sept. 17 at the Motion Picture and Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, spokeswoman Kimberly Centurion said Thursday.

Sutton appeared in more than 180 movies, playing opposite some of Hollywood’s best-known stars. Among his first credits was 1932’s “The Reckless Age” and among his last was 1971’s “Support Your Local Gunfighter.” He also performed in supporting roles in many television series. He often played slow-witted comic foils.
