Accused Building Contractor Seeks Bankruptcy Protection
A Coeur d’Alene building contractor accused of bilking customers out of thousands of dollars now says he’s bankrupt.
Ron Stratton, 43, is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from Kootenai County and Benewah County residents.
Residents say they paid Stratton for construction projects at their homes. He would start the projects but never complete them, they testified in court earlier this summer.
Stratton has been charged with eight counts of theft and is being held at the Kootenai County Jail.
On Monday, he sought protection from creditors in federal bankruptcy court in Coeur d’Alene.
