Associated Press

An outbreak of cholera has killed at least 10 people in Burundi, mostly among groups displaced by recent ethnic fighting, aid workers and officials said Thursday.

All told, 38 cases of cholera have been reported since Aug. 19 around Bujumbura and in Bubanza province north of the city, Emmanuel Maregaya, acting director of health services in the area, said from Bujumbura.

A spokeswoman for the International Red Cross said the agency was providing clean water to an estimated 100,000 people.
