Vandals Lose Two Starters With Injuries

Idaho lost a game on Saturday and, in the process, possibly two starters.

Cornerback Arnold Gunn is listed as doubtful for Saturday’s visit to Northern Arizona due to a sprained shoulder suffered in a 25-19 loss to Weber State. Gunn injured the same shoulder earlier this season and missed several games.

Wide receiver Robert Scott suffered a shoulder sprain and a hip pointer. He’s listed as questionable.

Eastern Washington earned a win over Montana State and, of near equal import, no new injuries.

MSU had just 94 total yards, the fewest given up an EWU defense since joining Division I-AA in 1983.

Cook honored

Weber quarterback Roger Cook, a backup until three weeks ago when Bryan Martin was injured, is the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week after hitting 30 of 39 passes for 367 yards against Idaho.

Northern Arizona end Kevin Kolkman had nine tackles in a 42-14 drubbing of Idaho State to earn defensive honors and Boise State’s Greg Erickson is the special teams pick for the second week in a row after making three field goals in a 49-14 rout of Portland State.

NAU climbs

Northern Arizona moved up three spots to No. 13 in The Sports Network poll. NAU is 7-2 and leading the conference by one-half game over Montana (6-2), which remains No. 10 after a bye week.

Boise (5-3) jumped up one spot to No. 24. McNeese State (8-0), which won a showdown against then No. 3 Stephen F. Austin, remains No. 1.
