Man Pleads Innocent In Scam
A Redmond man has pleaded innocent to charges he duped hundreds of people into paying nearly $90 each for a job in the airline industry, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
Oliver Odedo, 37, was arraigned Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Seattle on a federal grand jury indictment. He is accused of 11 counts of wire fraud and three counts of using a false social security number to establish bank accounts.
Prosecutors say the nationwide telemarketing operation used newspaper ads and an 800 phone number. Callers were falsely guaranteed a job in the airline industry, and were told the $89.90 processing fee was refundable if the job didn’t come through, the indictment said.
Trial is scheduled for Dec. 11.
