UI’s Rotc Program Presents Awards, Medals

Rebecca S. Meyers, a student at the University of Idaho and a yeoman chief petty officer with UI’s Navy/Marine ROTC, received a commendation medal for outstanding service with the Destroyer Squadron 13 at the UI’s ROTC semiannual awards ceremony.

Other students who received recognition include:

Officer candidate Terry M.E. Shaske of Shelby, Mont., the Navy Achievement Medal; officer candidates Derek J. Howe of Grand Rapids, Mich., and David D. Hein of Washougal, Wash., the Navy Good Conduct Medal; and Midshipman Joseph E. Dowding, Moscow, Midshipman of the Semester.

In addition, Quartermaster Chief Petty Officer Dennis M. O’Brien received the Navy Commendation Medal for superior performance as unit navigation instructor and medical coordinator. Gunnery Sgt. Carl P. Bubeck, who will transfer to Camp Pendleton, Calif., was awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
