Elusive Eagles Leave 4 Tied

Lee Trevino and John Bland failed to take advantage of eagle opportunities on the final hole, leaving them in a four-way tie for the lead in The Transamerica with Bruce Summerhays and Ben Smith at Napa Valley, Calif.

Trevino had an 8-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th and Bland, a South African who won last week’s London Masters after turning 50 on Sept. 29, had a 20-foot eagle attempt. Both then missed 3-foot birdie putts.

At Lake Buena Vista, Fla., 18-year veteran Brad Bryant and rookie Carl Paulson share the lead at 14-under-par in the rain-shortened Walt Disney Classic, now a 54-hole event after Friday’s storm.

Patrick Burke is one stroke behind.
