Kitty Litter Inventor, Entrepreneur Dies
Edward Lowe, whose invention of a product he called Kitty Litter made cats more welcome household company and created a half billion dollar industry, died on Wednesday at a hospital in Sarasota, Fla. He was 75.
Adapting clay for use as a cat box litter made Lowe a millionaire many times over.
He sold his Kitty Litter operations for $200 million plus stock in 1990. It is now part of the Ralston Purina Co.
