Microsoft Cuts Software Prices

Compiled From Wire Services

Hoping to increase sales to home computer users, Microsoft Corp. said Monday it is reducing prices on more than 40 home software products by as much as 45 percent.

Microsoft spokesman Phil Missimore said the price cuts should result in improved profits for the Redmond-based software company, as well as increased sales for distributors and retailers.

He declined to divulge sales estimates.

Microsoft is offering more than 30 games, children’s programs, reference titles and others under $50 each and some titles for as little as $29.99.
