Health Club Owners Agree To Give Rebates
A defunct health-club chain has agreed to pay back some money to former customers.
Six people involved in running American Health and Fitness clubs in King County have agreed to pay a total of $20,000 over two years to consumers who purchased memberships, the state attorney general’s office said Thursday.
The six include former Seattle Sonics basketball player James Donaldson, Daniel Woxland and Jeffrey Sheehan of Issaquah, and Charles Admundson and William and Carrie MacDonald of Bellevue.
Admundson also signed an agreement barring him from owning or operating a health club in Washington for the next five years, the attorney general’s office said.
A state lawsuit against American Health and Fitness alleged the company used high-pressure sales and bait-and-switch tactics in selling memberships at its clubs in Seattle and Redmond.
