Colville Tribes Delay Resort Plan

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Colville Confederated Tribes announced Sunday they have withdrawn their bid to develop a resort near Grand Coulee Dam.

Restrictions imposed by the Coulee Dam National Recreation Area in negotiations for a concessions contract make the venture too risky, said Clarence Antioquia, chief executive officer of the tribes’ business operations.

But the Colvilles remain committed to the project, and will seek to begin negotiating directly with the National Park Service, the recreation area’s parent agency, Antioquia said.
