More Seats For Broncos

Associated Press

Bronco Stadium, where Boise State plays its football games, will expand by up to 12,000 seats. It will remain the country’s only football stadium with blue turf.

The Finance Committee of the state Board of Education on Tuesday approved the school’s plan to spend $750,000 replacing the artificial turf and $6 million for additional seating on the south end of the stadium, which currently seats 23,000.

Northern Arizona coach Steve Axman has hired former Boston College aide Kwame Dixon as running backs coach to replace Marty Mornhinweg, who left for the Green Bay Packers.

Charley Pell, 54, the former University of Floriday coach whose inability to find a job in football contributed to personal problems that led to a 1994 suicide attempt, has been hired to coach at the soon-to-open Lake Region High School at Eagle Lake, Fla.
