Baby Ryan In Good Condition
Five-month-old Ryan Nguyen was in good condition Monday at Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital after being hospitalized over the weekend with a 104-degree fever.
His temperature, probably caused by an infection from his catheter line, has returned to normal, said Sue Klein, spokeswoman at the Portland hospital.
“It’s pretty common,” Klein said of the infection. “He’s had one of those before.”
Ryan, who was born eight weeks premature, was taken to Portland after a dispute between his parents and doctors at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Spokane doctors said Ryan, who suffered kidney problems, a bowel obstruction and possible brain damage, had no chance of living.
At Portland, his condition improved until he was well enough to go home with his parents under 24-hour nursing care on March 6.
Ryan likely will go home again within a couple of days, Klein said.
