Baskets by Jeremy Force and Terrence McIver snapped a 55-55 deadlock and enabled Cascade Leavenworth (20-6) to shock No. 1 Foster (20-3) in double overtime Wednesday in a boys state Class A high school first-round basketball tournament game at the Tacoma Dome.

Ryan Hanson, a 6-foot-1 junior with a 30.5-point scoring average, finished with 33 points, 24 in the second half.

Lori Newell and Kristin McClintock each scored 12 points Wednesday as No. 3 Ilwaco (20-1) trimmed Zillah (15-10) in a girls state Class A high school basketball tournament first-round game in the Tacoma Dome.

The Fishermen held Zillah to 22 percent shooting from the field. They also had 11-2 free throw and 42-34 rebound advantages.

Newell also had 14 rebounds and six steals.

Vanessa Arens scored 14 points, nine in the second half, for Zillah.

Anna Dudek scored 22 points as No. 4 Foster (23-1) outscored King’s (18-7).

The Bulldogs raced to an 11-1 lead 3 minutes into the contest, but King’s fought back to tie the score 24-24 with 2:20 left before halftime.

Foster took the lead for good at 38-35 on Renee Gratzer’s 3-point shot midway through the third quarter. Foster boosted its advantage to 49-39 and never let King’s closer than three points after that.

Heather Reichmann paced the Knights with 17 points and nine rebounds.
