As expected, the Chicago Blackhawks announced that former NHL defenseman Craig Hartsburg has been hired as the team’s coach.

In a vote taken minutes before a deadline set by Bengals president Mike Brown, the Cincinnati City Council voted to go along with Hamilton County’s $540 million plan to build separate stadiums for football’s Bengals and baseball’s Reds.

In a step aimed at keeping the Cleveland Browns from leaving town, the City Council approved a $154 million tax package to help finance the renovation of Depression-era Cleveland Stadium.
