N. Idaho Bci Girls Picked

The North Idaho girls basketball team that will represent the region in the state Basketball Congress International (BCI) tournament early next month has been selected.

The team: Katie Hatrock, Laura Tolzmann, Lindsay Herbert, Natalie Telford and Heather Stetson of Lake City; Sarah Peterson of Falls Christian Academy; Andrea Gomez and Laura Bloom of Lewiston; Heidi Umthun of Post Falls; Chelsey Hall of Grangeville; Cory Hanson of Coeur d’Alene; and Kally Lytle of Clearwater Valley. Andrea Wilkey of CdA is an alternate.

The team is coached by new Lake City coach Dave Stockwell.

The team will participate in the four-team state tournament July 6-8 at Boise. Top players from the four teams will represent the state in the national BCI tournament in late July.

The team is practicing daily this week at Lake City High in preparation for the tournament.

Horse racing

He’s only a new, non-voting member of the Washington Horse Racing Commission, but Rep. Denny Dellwo, D-Spokane, said he wants to help insure that Playfair has a future.

Dellwo’s first commission meeting is Thursday in Yakima.

“As a non-voting member, my presence is more to influence by persuasion,” Dellwo said Tuesday.

It’s not too late to take steps to insure that Playfair comes through an abbreviated 1995 season, he said.

Golf

Led by Mark Rohde of Valley View, eight area golfers made the cut for today’s final round of the Sunriver Oregon Open.

Rohde is at 3-under-par 141 (71-70) to stand second, five shots back of Jeff Coston of Blaine, Wash. (67-69).

Dan Koesters, University of Idaho, (69-73) is in a three-way tie at 142.
