Housing Advocates Arrested After Sit-In

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two protesters were arrested early Tuesday after staging a sevenhour sit-in atop a soon-to-be demolished apartment building, police said.

The two were identified by the advocacy group Operation Homestead as Dana Suzanne Schuerholz and Bob Kubiniec. Police said they were jailed for investigation of trespassing.

The 43-unit building is scheduled to be torn down next week to make room for a $25 million NikeTown.

The sit-in was organized by members of Operation Homestead, a group that contends Seattle should encourage low-income apartments.
