Eight Die Trying To Help Landslide Victims
Eight people died trying to help those trapped by a landslide in central China, while flooding killed at least 77 others in the east and south, news agencies reported Tuesday.
The Xinhua News Agency, China’s official news agency, said a landslide in the central province of Hunan hit a building under construction at a school in Yuanling County, trapping teachers and construction workers. Officials and teachers rushed to the rescue, and eight rescuers were killed by a second mudslide, Xinhua said.
