Idaho Democrats Hold Planning Session

Associated Press

State Democratic Party Chairman Bill Mauk says his party has a lot of work to do before the next general election, both nationally and in Idaho.

Party leaders gathered Saturday for a strategic planning retreat at the Bogus Basin Resort near Boise.

“There is a lot of work to be done to prepare the party for the fall of ‘96,” Mauk said. “This weekend will be a key step in the development of strategies designed to strengthen and efine what Democrats have accomplished and what we are going to accomplish.”

Democrats suffered heavy defeats in Idaho’s 1994 elections.

Mauk said despite the defeats, almost 200,000 Idahoans voted for Democrats in the last election.
