Hiker Dies After Fall Down Waterfall

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 37-year-old Kent, Wash., man died Sunday after falling down an 80-foot waterfall in Okanogan County.

The man’s name was not released, pending the notification of relatives, said a sheriff’s dispatcher.

The man fell over the waterfall on Gold Creek, near the Foggy Dew trailhead, about 2 p.m.

The sheriff’s department was called after a mountain biker rode by the man’s wife, who asked him to call for an ambulance.

The sheriff’s department also spent part of Sunday searching for another hiker in the Pasayten wilderness area, north of Winthrop. The man had been separated from friends Friday.

The man was found walking out of the wilderness Sunday afternoon.
