James McGreal Potlatch, Idaho

Memorial service for James P. McGreal, 51, will be held at a later date. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McGreal, a lifetime Potlatch resident, died Wednesday.

He graduated from Potlatch High School and worked for Idaho First National Bank from 1962 until 1972.

He also worked as a farm laborer for many years.

Most recently, he was employed by the University of Idaho.

He is survived by two brothers, William McGreal of Kaysville, Utah, and Phillip McGreal of Eureka, Mont.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Potlatch Lions Club or the American Cancer Society.

Pearl Montgomery Spokane

Memorial service for Pearl M. Montgomery, 76, was Thursday at the Carlyle Apartments.

Mrs. Montgomery, a homemaker, died June 2.

She was born in Indiana and had lived in Spokane for 20 years.

She is survived by one sister, Lorene Martin of Columbus, Ind.; two sons and one daughter.

Gary Holum Spokane

Service for Gary K. Holum, 59, will be at 1 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Holum, who died Tuesday, was born in Tacoma and graduated from West Valley High School in 1953.

He had lived in Spokane since 1940 and owned Servco since 1968.

He was a member of the Spokane Chess Club, the Spokane Police Guild, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3386, the National Institute of Fire Restoration, the National Association of Arson Investigators and the Carpet Cleaners Institute of the Northwest.

Mr. Holum is survived by his wife, Kay; four sons, Scott and Mark Holum, Christian Cummings and Richard Hembrey; five daughters, Kristie Morgan, Michelle and Alicia Holum, Deanna Cooper and Verlie Thompson; two sisters, Phyllis Reynolds and Shirley DeBower; and 13 grandchildren.

Minnie Anderson Fairfield

Service for Minnie Henrietta Sophia (Hench) Anderson, 100, is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at United Church of Tekoa, Wash. Burial will follow at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.

Mrs. Anderson, a homemaker, died Wednesday at Good Samaritan Center in Fairfield.

In 1904 she moved near Latah with her family.

In 1928 she and her husband, Robert “Pat” Hench, settled in Tekoa. He died in 1962.

She married Clyde Anderson in 1966 in New Mexico, where they lived until he died in 1976. She then moved to Spokane and later returned to Tekoa. She had lived at the Good Samaritan Center in Fairfield for the last five years.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

Mrs. Anderson’s survivors include one daughter, Lois Horner of Bayview, Idaho; two grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, three great-greatgrandchildren and four stepgreat-greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfield Good Samaritan Center.

Cyril Curtis Spokane

Memorial graveside service for Cyril L. Curtis, 82, is set for 3 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Curtis, who died Monday, was born in Aurora, Utah.

He had lived in Spokane for more than 47 years and was a potman for Kaiser Aluminum in Mead for 35 years. He retired in 1979.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Shadle Park Presbyterian Church and the Steelworkers Union.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mabel Curtis; two daughters, Charissa Bowling of Spokane and Debra Curtis of Preston, Idaho; one brother, Nolan Curtis of Green River, Utah; five sisters, Arvilla Ward of Everett, Thelma Anderson of Salt Lake City, Wynona Wilson of Clearfield, Utah, Verla Lowe of Green River and Clella Ross of Provo, Utah; seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Shawn Chamberlain Post Falls

No service will be held for Shawn Severe Chamberlain, 24, at his family’s request. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chamberlain, who was found shot near Ritzville, Wash., June 16.

He moved to the Coeur d’Alene area 15 years ago from Sacramento, Calif.

Mr. Chamberlain was a drywaller for various construction companies.

He was preceded in death by his father, John.

Bert Hanson Spokane

Service for Bert A. Hanson, 65, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Hanson, who died Thursday, was born in Osborne, Idaho.

He was a self-employed drapery installer and had lived in Spokane for 60 years.

He graduated from Rogers High School and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War as a sergeant.

Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lorraine; two sons, Eric and Craig Hanson, both of Spokane; three sisters, Shirley Randolph of Spokane, Lola Morgan of Kennewick and Sue McGoldrick of Portland; three brothers, Robert White of New Mexico, Loren Hanson of Alaska, and Edward White of Hawaii; and four grandchildren.

Marjorie Danahy Spokane

Memorial service for Marjorie M. Danahy, 69, will be at 11 a.m. todayat Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Danahy, a homemaker, died Monday.

She was born in Dillon, Mont., and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. She had lived in Spokane since 1942.

She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert Danahy; three daughters, Linda Plese of Spokane, Gayle Danahy of Snohomish, Wash., and Beth McIntosh of Seattle; seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45.

Florence Anderson Spokane

No service will be held for Florence L. Anderson, 72, at her request. Her ashes will be inurned at a later date in the Colfax (Wash.) Cemetery beside her husband. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in St. Maries, Mrs. Anderson died June 16.

She worked for U.S. West Communications as an operator supervisor for 39 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She had lived in Spokane for 26 years.

Her husband, William Anderson, died in 1960.

She is survived by two sisters, Pauline Pipkin of Everett and Irene Bafus of St. John, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or Hospice of Walla Walla.

Helen Moore Colville, Wash.

Service for Helen E. Moore, 85, was Thursday at Colville United Methodist Church. Burial was at Mountain View Park Cemetery, Colville.

Mrs. Moore, who died Sunday, was born in Hoisington, Kan.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Fort Colville Grange, Rebekah Lodge, the Royal Neighbors and the Mount Carmel Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Donald Moore of Olympia, Darrell Moore of Vancouver, Wash., and Dwayne Moore of Chicago; one daughter, Glenda Owens of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Lucille Beeson of Delta, Colo., and Georgia Sampson of Anaheim, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospital Auxiliary or Dominicare.
