Dwindling Bull Trout Stocks Prompt Forest Service Hearings

The U.S. Forest Service will hold a public hearing in Spokane on Thursday regarding the agency’s Inland Northwest Native Fish Strategy.

The strategy is being written because of concern that bull trout populations are dwindling. It will guide timber sales and other national forest activities until a regional environmental impact statement is completed.

The hearing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on Sunset Boulevard. There will be five other hearings in the region, including one from 4 to 8 p.m. July 12 at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston.
