Arnold Gunn Conkling Park, Idaho
A reception service celebrating the life of Arnold H. “Arnie” Gunn, 73, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Worley Grange Hall in Worley, Idaho. YatesHodge Funeral Home of St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gunn, who was born in St. John, Wash., died Tuesday while fishing on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
As a boy he attended schools in Tensed and Oaksdale, Wash.
He served with the Army in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.
He was married for 21 years to Jeanne Ogden before they divorced.
In 1953 he went to work for Holsum Bakery as a driver and salesman in the Lewiston and Colfax, Wash., areas.
He married Cleone Siler in 1969, and they made their home in Lewiston. He lived in Colfax before his retirement in 1978.
Mr. Gunn moved with his wife to Conkling Park in 1980.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cutting firewood. He was a member of the Worley Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, at the home; two sons, Jim Gunn of Fairfield and Shawn Gunn of Spokane; a stepson, Brian Siler of Lewiston; a stepdaughter, Denise Connolly of Lewiston; two sisters, Sherlene Lossell and Betty Woodworth, both of Spokane; and four grandchildren, Chad, Jenny, Shannon and B.J.
Marvel Jackson Spokane
Memorial service for Marvel (Muse) Jackson, 45, will be at 1 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North.
Born in New Orleans, she died last Friday.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane for 38 years.
She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and the Community Choir.
She is survived by two daughters, Angelic Jackson and Cameo Jackson, both of Spokane; her father, Norman Muse of Spokane; three sisters, Barbara Barlow of Texas, and Geraldine and Glenda Muse, both of Spokane; four brothers, Stephan, Norwood and Norman Muse Jr., both of Spokane, and Alvin Muse of Walla Walla; and one granddaughter.
John ‘Bill’ Spooner Spokane
Service for John W. “Bill” Spooner, 95, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Spooner died Wednesday at home.
A lifetime Spokane-area resident, he was a farmer and dairyman.
Mr. Spooner was a member of the Lewis Packing Bowling Team, the Rockford Lions Club and the Valley Pioneers.
His wife, Effie May Spooner, died in 1987.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty Meyer, and one son, Don Spooner, both of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thelma Trim Olympia
Service for Thelma W. “Thel” Trim, 61, will be at 11 a.m. today at New Life Baptist Church in Olympia. Burial will follow at Masonic Memorial Park in Tumwater, Wash.
Mrs. Trim, a former Spokane resident, died Monday of ovarian cancer.
She was born in New Orleans.
She had lived in Spokane from 1966 until 1984, when she and her husband moved to Olympia.
In Spokane she worked for Rusan’s clothing store, Spokane Health Spa and, for eight years, the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Trim; three sons, Ralph, Kevin and Brian Trim, all of Spokane; one daughter, Karen Trim of Torrance, Calif.; her mother, Perviller McCoy of New Orleans; four brothers, Herman McCoy of Chicago, and Alden, Alfred and Norwood McCoy, all of New Orleans; four sisters, Theda Brown and Irene Smith, both of New Orleans, and Geraldine Gowan and Clarice Smith, both of San Francisco; and four grandchildren.
Rose Goolie-Miller Spokane
Funeral Mass for Rose M. GoolieMiller, 80, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Goolie-Miller, who died Tuesday, was born in Spokane and had lived here for 45 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Thomas More Parish.
Her husband, George Miller, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two brothers, Harry Goolie of Post Falls and Charles Goolie of Spokane; one sister, Eve Marie Godsey of Florence, Ore.; one grandson, two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
Kenneth Henderson Spirit Lake, Idaho
Service for Kenneth Stewart Henderson, 83, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Riplinger Funeral Home with burial at the Spirit Lake (Idaho) Cemetery.
Mr. Henderson, who died June 14, was born in Winona, Minn.
He graduated from Hillyard High School in 1930 and from Kinman Business University.
He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary after he was honorably discharged.
He had worked for Armour and Co. and Lehigh Cement Co. He retired from the Washington Highway Department in 1973.
Mr. Henderson was a member of the Spokane Mountaineers and helped organize the Mount Spokane Ski Patrol.
He and his wife, Betty, moved from Spokane to their Spirit Lake cabin in the early 1970s. She died in 1992.
Survivors include two sisters, Eloise Webb of New York and Phyllis Eagle of Spokane; and his companion, Lucille Holznagel of Spokane.
Peter Dodson Woodinville, Wash.
Service for Peter Kent Dodson, 50, is planned for 11 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Spokane. Memorial service will be held Tuesday in Snohomish, Wash. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Dodson, who died Sunday of a heart attack, was born in Spokane.
He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from Eastern Washington University. In 1974 he moved to Snohomish County and completed his doctorate in educational psychology at the University of Washington in 1987.
Mr. Dodson worked for the Snohomish School District as an assessment coordinator and taught at the University of Washington as an adjunct professor.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Koch; his father, Ken Dodson; three brothers, Robin, Michael and John Dodson; and one sister, Mary Ann Foster.

Luella ‘Willie’ Peay Newport, Wash.
Graveside service for Luella G. “Willie” Peay, 55, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elk Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home of Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Peay, who died Tuesday, was born in Kalispell, Mont.
A homemaker, she moved to Spokane in 1968 and to the Newport and Oldtown, Idaho, area in 1982.
She is survived by one son, Rob Pound of Spokane; one daughter, Candy Tucker of Elk; two sisters, Sylvia Evans of Newport and Virginia Radabah of Kalispell; four brothers, John Miller of Newport, and Irvin, Ken, and Norm Miller, all of Kalispell; two grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
William ‘Mike’ Galvin Spokane
Private service for William P. “Mike” Galvin, 51, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Galvin, who died Monday, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1961.
He enlisted in the Army and graduated from officer candidate school as a second lieutenant. He served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne in 1968 and 1969.
Mr. Galvin received numerous awards and medals, including three Purple Hearts.
He was discharged from the Army in 1970 and later received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington. In 1987 he received a master’s degree from Brown University in Rhode Island. He then returned to Spokane.
Most recently, he was under contract with Doubleday Publishers for two books.
Mr. Galvin is survived by his parents, Lyn and Bill Galvin of Twin Lakes, Idaho; one daughter, Jennifer Holdren of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Patrick Galvin of Salt Lake City and Terry Galvin of Bellingham; one sister, Christy Galvin of Seattle; and one grandson.

Ruth Maroney Coeur d’Alene
Service for Ruth Maroney, 79, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.
Mrs. Maroney, who was born in Chinook, Mont., died Tuesday in Spokane.
She married Joseph Maroney in 1933, and they came to the area in 1966 from Kalispell, Mont.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband died in 1990.
Survivors include three sons, Jackie Maroney of Kalispell, Wallace Maroney of Butte, Mont., and Richard Maroney of Spokane; two brothers, Eugene Stidd of Shelton, Wash., and Bill Stidd of McCleary, Wash.; and two sisters, Jessie Bye of Monroe, Wash., and Darlene Blair of Florida.
Orville Neils Coeur d’Alene
Service for Orville Neils, 83, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.Private burial will be at Forest Cemetery, Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Neils, who was born in Frazee, Minn., died Monday at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene.
He had lived in Coeur d’Alene since he was 9.
Mr. Neils married Dorothy Wendler in 1936.
He worked in shipyards during World War II and was an electrician at Farragut Naval Base. He also worked for Northwest Timber.
Mr. Neils owned and operated Furnace Sales and Service in Coeur d’Alene for 40 years before retiring.
He was a member of the American Bowling Association and a former member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge.
He loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rodney Neils of Moses Lake and Jim Neils of Coeur d’Alene; one daughter, Jackie Adams of Coeur d’Alene; and six grandchildren.
Thelma Davey Colfax, Wash.
Vigil service for Thelma R. Davey, 91, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Davey, who died Tuesday, was born in Spokane. A homemaker, she moved to Colfax in 1990.
She was a member the Women’s Auxiliary of the Washington State Optometric Association.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Davey; two sons, Ronald Davey of Borrego Springs, Calif., and Jerry Davey of San Diego; one daughter, Lynne Bruya of Colfax; one brother, Verne Ellis of Spokane; two sisters, Ardith Smith of Seattle and Ferol Getman of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Edith Carrico Ephrata
No service was held for Edith “Edie” Carrico, at her request.
Mrs. Carrico, 89, died Saturday.
She had worked as a waitress at the Virginian Cafe and, until she was 83, at the Valley Bowl Cafe.
She had lived in Spokane for more than 25 years.
She is is survived by one daughter, Oliva Steensma of La Grande, Ore.; two sons, Donald Neil of Spokane and Irvin Neil of Soap Lake, Wash.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
