Ewu Students Receive Memorial Scholarship

Four Eastern Washington University students have received Josephine Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarships for Native American students.

Cheryl Gatlin, a 1983 graduate of Inchelium (Wash.) High School and daughter of Linda and Kenneth Holford, received $600. She is a senior majoring in elementary education.

Richard Hallenius, a 1988 graduate of Omak (Wash.) High School and son of Judy Rague, Mason City, Iowa, and Murlyn Hallenius, Renton, Wash., received $200. He is a senior majoring in mathematics and natural science.

Philip Haugen, a 1981 graduate of North Central High School and son of Mary and Phillip Haugen, received $600. He is a senior majoring in social science.

Cindy Wyborney, a 1991 graduate of Columbia High School in Hunters, Wash., and daughter of Linda and Patrick Toulou, Fruitland, Wash., received $400. She is a senior majoring in elementary education.

The University of Idaho chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, history honorary society, has recognized the academic achievements of 15 students by selecting them for membership.

Elected to membership were Lynn Henegan, Moscow, Idaho, a senior history major; and Shelly Renzelman, Clarkston, Wash., a senior history major.

Members of the University of Idaho Law Review staff have been named by university officials.

Students honored with selection include: Lamont Loo, Moscow, Idaho; Patrick Mahoney, Cheney; and Tyler Moore, Veradale.

Beta Gamma Sigma, business and management honorary society, has honored 19 university juniors and seniors in the academic top 7 percent and 10 percent, respectively, of their classes.

Honored with membership were: Barbara Sonnen, Lewiston, a junior information systems major; Rosemary Cornwall, a senior accounting major, Lisa Owens, a senior accounting major, and Christopher Wolking, a senior accounting major, all of Moscow, Idaho; Tod Geidle, Troy, Idaho, a senior finance major; and Jason Kindred, Spokane, a senior accounting major.

Yvette (Wandschneider) Himsl, a University High School graduate, recently graduated with a degree in nursing from Carroll College, Helena. She is the daughter of Spokane Valley Dr. Gary Wandschneider, and Elaine Rise, Liberty Lake.

Katherine Anselmo, daughter of Frank and Patricia Anselmo, has been named to Seattle University’s President’s List with a 4.0 gradepoint average. She is a history major and 1993 graduate of Mead High School.

Shanni Burnette, a Spokane Community College automotive student, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the North American Council for Automotive Teachers.
