Dead Men’s Rental Car Found

Associated Press

Detectives investigating the slayings of two men believe the deaths are linked to a car with blood-stained seats found abandoned in Kittitas County, the Adams County sheriff said Tuesday.

One of the victims, Aubrey Clay Cameron, 34, of Pasco, had rented the car out of the Tri-Cities several days before the first of the two bodies was found Friday, sheriff Mike Kline said.

Also Tuesday, authorities identified the second victim as Shawn S. Chamberlain, 24.

Chamberlain’s listed home address is in Richland, but he had family ties in Post Falls.

A motorist found Chamberlain’s body Friday in plain view along a county road about two miles east of Ritzville.

While examining the area Monday, investigators found Cameron’s body three-quarters of a mile away along a different county road.

Autopsies determined both men died of single gunshot wounds to the head, Kline said. No other injuries were detected.

The car that Cameron rented was found Sunday by Kittitas County authorities along a rural road south of Ellensburg, about 100 miles west of Ritzville, Kline said.

Investigators believe Cameron and Chamberlain had been traveling in the car.

The men were believed to have been killed early Friday at or near the sites where their bodies were found. Investigators had no suspects, the sheriff said.
