Palmer Takes Early Lead

Susan Palmer of Team Brueggers Bagels won the Albertson’s Bogus Basin Time Trial to open the 11-day PowerBar International Women’s Challenge cycling race.

Palmer completed the 1.7-mile Bogus Basin course in 6 minutes, 24 seconds to take the yellow leader’s jersey.

Jolanta Polikeviciute of Lithuania finished second in 6:44, with Saturn’s Jeanne Golay third in 6:52.

The event features 533 miles of bicycle racing, with 13 stages in 11 days.
