West Valley Sweeps Twinbill, Goes To 3-0

Todd Weger won the second game by scoring from second base on a fly ball Sunday as the unbeaten West Valley Boosters swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader at Colville.

West Valley (3-0) won the first game from the KC Stars (0-4) 10-4. David Cons scattered six hits to pitch the Boosters to a 2-1 victory in the nightcap.

In other games, Spokane Federal Credit Union and Pullman split two games in Pullman.

SFCU (2-2) captured the opener 11-6. Pullman (2-2) claimed the second game 4-3 after scoring all four of its runs in the fourth inning.

Justin Tichey was the batting star for West Valley (3-0), rapping five hits in the two games.

In the opener, Jeremy Isherwood led the way by scoring three runs.

The Boosters won the nightcap in the last of the seventh when Weger beat the throw to home plate following Tichey’s fly ball to center field.

In SFCU’s victory, Pat Stiffler had three hits and Tucker Urdahl struck out 11. Dan Bodey, who had three hits in the opener, contributed a two-run double to Pullman’s big inning in the second game.
