Woman Critically Injured In Wreck

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 79-year-old woman was in critical condition late Thursday after a three-car accident in the Spokane Valley.

Two other people also were injured.

Marjorie Babcock of Spokane suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung in the collision at 2:30 p.m., the Washington State Patrol said.

Babcock was transferred to Deaconess Medical Center late Thursday from Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

Richard V. Lattimore, 76, was in stable condition, said a nursing supervisor at Valley Hospital.

A second woman, Joyce A. Fitzgerald, was treated and released.

Lattimore was driving a 1983 Honda Accord south on Pines when he attempted to turn left onto Olive. His car struck a 1983 Chevrolet Citation heading north on Pines, the state patrol said. That northbound car then collided with Fitzgerald’s 1986 Chevrolet Special.

Lattimore and his passenger, Babcock, were not wearing seat belts.
