Steelers, Anderson Part
Kicker Gary Anderson’s 13-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers has apparently ended after he rejected a contract that would have paid him at least $525,000 per year.
Anderson thanked his fans for their support and said he and the NFL team could not agree on contract terms.
An unrestricted free agent, Anderson had asked for $750,000 per year. Last season Anderson made 24 of 29 field goal attempts, including two that won games in overtime.
Indianapolis Colts kicker Dean Biasucci is considering an offer from the Steelers.
Indianapolis signed first-round choice Ellis Johnson, a defensive lineman from Florida and the 15th player selected in this year’s NFL draft.
Mike Brown, president and part owner of the Cincinnati Bengals, will meet with a Baltimore official this week to hear an offer designed to lure his team to the Maryland city.
