Military Persons Receive Promotions, Awards

The following local military persons have been promoted to their present ranks:

Lance Cpl. Jeffrey Schlotman, son of Paul Schlotman, Benton City, Wash., and Linda Mandurrago, Kennewick, is stationed with the Marine Corps at Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan. He is a 1991 graduate of Pasco Senior High School.

Airman 1st Class Abel Lugo, son of Armando and Kikuc Lugo, Kennewick, is stationed with the Air Force at Fairchild Air Force Base. He is a 1991 graduate of Kennewick High School.

Senior Airman Robert Bradley, son of Diane Bradley, Spokane, is stationed with the Air Force at Yokota Air Base Tokyo. He is a 1991 graduate of Ferris High School.

Sgt. Robert Parrish, son of Joseph Parrish, Richland, is stationed with the Marine Corps at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Pfc. Jason Jenkins, son of James and Laurie Spencer, Post Falls, is a senior at Post Falls High School. He will be stationed with the Army upon graduation.

Staff Sgt. Timothy Mount, son of Roland and Marjorie Mount, Pasco, is stationed with the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is a 1982 graduate of Pasco High School.

The following military persons have earned awards:

Cpl. Sean Bambock, son of Leonard and Joanne Bambock, Kennewick, received a Letter of Commendation. He is stationed with the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is a 1992 graduate of Kennewick High School.

Airman Recruit Colby Bruni, son of Terry Bruni, Spokane, received a Letter of Commendation. He is stationed with the Navy at Cecil Field, Fla. He is a 1993 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Staff Sgt. Douglas Blancher, son of Herman and Lorene Blancher, LaCrosse, Wash., recently competed in “Readiness Challenge V” at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Fla. The contest was held to decide the best of the best within the civil engineering field. He is a 1973 graduate of Rogers High School.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Troy Nicholson, son of Sandra Nicholson, Tekoa, Wash., received the Navy Achievement Medal while aboard the USS Vandegrift, San Diego.

Timothy Pierce, son of Chuck and Donna Pierce, has accepted an appointment to the Air Force Academy, Class of 1999, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He received the nomination from former House Speaker Tom Foley and was notified of the appointment by Rep. George Nethercutt. He is an Eagle Scout and a 1994 graduate of University High School.
