New Faces:

Thomas Chapman has joined Paine, Hamblen, Coffin, Brooke & Miller as special counsel. Chapman will focus his practice on workers’ compensation issues and industrial insurance matters involving litigation, legislation, consultation and training. Chapman was most recently senior counsel with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General and represented the Department of Labor and Industries.

ALSC Architects has added the following people to its staff:

Amy Bowman is an interior designer. Bowman graduated from Montana State University and will be involved with interior design and space planning for office and educational facilities.

Timothy White has joined ALSC as project architect. White has 19 years of professional experience and is past president of the Spokane Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. His experience includes institutional and educational facility design.

Kirsten Kennedy has joined the staff of Cunningham Studio of Quality Photography as manager and design consultant. Kennedy is a ‘95 Whitworth College graduate who received a bachelor’s degree in arts administration.

George Czerwonka has joined Trinity Universal Insurance Cos. as regional claims manager. A graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Technology, Czerwonka has more than 26 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. He previously was vice president of marketing at the home office of Continental Insurance in New York City and most recently was associated with Able Claims Service in Spokane as a consultant on self-insured governmental and large account programs.

Gonzaga University’s Office of University Relations has made the following staff changes:

Anne Simpson, former director of major gifts at Gonzaga, has been named director of prospect research and management.

Pat Reese, a department manager for Nordstrom in Spokane, has been named director of annual giving.

Linda Lopez-George, formerly director of development for the College of Business Administration at Eastern Washington University, has been named assistant director of development and alumni affairs for Gonzaga’s School of Law.

Carol Bonino has been promoted from development writer for major gifts to associate director of foundation relations.

Cheryl Bryan has joined the Coeur d’Alene office of Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty. A 25-year Coeur d’Alene-area resident, Bryan graduated from Gonzaga University with a degree in accounting.

Kelly Hanson has joined RE/MAX Preferred at Harbor Plaza in Coeur d’Alene. Hanson, who holds the GRI designation, has seven years of experience in real estate and was formerly with Better Home/Coeur d’Alene Realty.

Chris Martin, Andy Leitheiser and Lu Giesey have joined the staff of Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

Martin is the marketing assistant/ group services manager, responsible for developing and creating a group services department and acting as the building liaison with suiteholders and club seating members.

Leitheiser is the event supervisor. His responsibilities include working with event promoters on event set-up and the day-to-day operational responsibilities within the building.

Giesey is the office manager, responsible for all accounting and payroll functions, seasonal/temp employee relations and general office management.

Jim Gilbert has been named manager of US Marine’s Spokane plant, which manufactures boats ranging from 14 to 26 feet. Gilbert previously managed the company’s Cumberland, Md., facility.

Robert Richins has rejoined Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. as vice president of environmental services and regulatory affairs. Richins previously held that position until 1994, when he formed his own consulting firm based in Boise.

Starting Up: Certified Training Centers an affiliate of Humanix Personnel Services, has begun operations. The business offers short-term, hands-on computer software training courses, including WordPerfect, Excel, Windows, and others. Katy Jacobson is the manager and heads up classes, which are taught using interactive videoconferencing equipment.

The Idaho Small Business Development Center and the Spokane Chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives have joined together with the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide small business training programs for the residents of Post Falls.

Elected: Michael Shollenberger, owner of Memories by Michael portrait studio, has been elected vice president of the Washington State Photographers Association.

Terry Nap has been elected president of Washington Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors. Nap operated a plumbing business for 19 years.

Coeur d’Alene Homes has elected board members and officers. New board members include: Keith Knight, Darlene Nasen, Shirley Belstad and Mertye Heberly. Officers are: Rich Wallace, president; John Alexander, vice-president; Alan Miller, treasurer; and Chris Fehr, secretary.

Regal Post Office has chosen the following Customer Advisory Council members: Karen Jacoy, chair; Leigh Hales, Susan Hebner, Emma Jane McArthur and Mary Morgan. Postal Service Advisory members are: Rick Moore, Greg Hock and PJ Weaver.

The American Society of Training and Development has appointed new officers: Bill Wheaton, president; Roy Anderson, immediate past president; Mary Gayle Johnson, president elect/ treasurer; Mari Ragland, secretary; Jennifer Leake, communications; Marilyn Montgomery, programs; Fritz Ameen,programs/resource fair; Anne Rettenmier-Watts,public education; Wendy Schneider,membership; Terry Ziemaintz, Spokane training consortium liaison.

Inland Power and Light has re-elected two trustees and returned a former trustee to its board: Louis White, St. John, Wash., was re-elected to represent District 6; Diana Wilhite, Spokane, was re-elected as an at-large trustee, Position A; Dick Ziehnert of Elk, who served on the board from 1983 to 1990, was elected to represent District 2.

The Greater Spokane Sports Association has elected the following officers: Kirby McKee, KXLY-TV, president; Mike Beasley, Farmers and Merchants Bank, president-elect; Harley Reckord, LeMasters and Daniels, treasurer; and Craig Parks, George Gee Pontiac/GMC, secretary.

Robert Rickel was re-elected board chairman of Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide General Insurance Co. Rickel, who has held the position since 1986, is a Bayview, Idaho, farmer and businessman.

Inland Northwest Professional Credit Union Women has elected the following officers and directors: Jennifer Duncan, president, Spokane Railway Credit Union; Carey Polich, vice president, United Health Services Credit Union; Kelly Herrick-Anderson, treasurer, Spokane Railway Credit Union; Sharon Edminster, secretary, Spokane Teachers Credit Union; and Denise Piukkula, membership, United Health Services Credit Union.

LeRae Donnellan head of the University of Idaho Agricultural Communications Center, has been elected vice president of Agricultural Communicators in Education. Donnellan will take on a four-year leadership commitment: one year as vice president, followed by terms as president-elect, president and past president. Donnellan earned a doctorate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Dr. David Jones has been installed as a board member of the Washington State Chiropractic Association.

Holy Family Hospital’s Medical Staff officers for 1995 include: Dr. Richard Howland president; Dr. Robert Rutherford, president-elect; Dr. Bruce Adye, secretary/treasurer. Members-atlarge: Dr. Ben Thrower, chairman, Jt. Practice Committee; Dr. Dale Lewis, chairman, P&T Committee.

Supercuts franchisee Gina Lillie was elected Washington state delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business next week in Washington, D.C.

Robert Bakie, president of Layrite Products Co., has taken office as a member of the National Concrete Masonry Association’s Board of Directors. Bakie has previously served as a member of the Concrete Masonry Installation, Long Range Planning, and Product Development & Creative Concepts committees.

The Spokane Association of Realtors has elected 1995 officers and directors. Officers are Bev Gates, Gates Realty Inc., president; Tom Crowley, Crowley Realty/BH&G, president-elect; Carol Capra, Tomlinson South, secretary; and Robert W. Robideaux, R.W. Robideaux Co., treasurer. Also elected to the leadership team for 1995 were directors Jim Carollo, Tomlinson Real Estate Services; Sharon Olson, John L. Scott; and Sue Stierwalt, Tomlinson Real Estate Services. They join current directors Greg Benner, BH&G Showcase Properties; Pam McIntyre, Prudential Crane/South; and Mitch Swenson, James S. Designations: Allstate Insurance agent Robin Oos has been granted the LUTC Fellow professional designation. LUTCF is conferred upon life underwriters who meet exacting training and educational requirements and membership and ethical standards jointly set by the Life Underwriters Training Council and the National Association of Life Underwriters.

David Hellenthal has successfully completed the first examination leading to elder law certification. Hellenthal has practiced elder law for six years and is a graduate of Gonzaga University Law School.

Richard and Karen Sayre, principals in the law firm of Sayre & Sayre P.S., each have successfully completed the examination to be certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the Elder Law Foundation.
