Man Burned During Firebomb Attempt

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 28-year-old Monroe man was burned over 60 percent of his body after he tried to firebomb the Monroe police station early Sunday, fire officials said.

The bomb blew up in the man’s face as he tried to light it, said Monroe Fire Department Battalion Chief Jamie Silva.

The building sustained minor damage, but no one else was injured.

The man suffered third-degree burns over 60 percent of his body and was in critical condition Sunday night at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a nursing supervisor said.

The man’s motive for trying to set fire to the police station was under investigation and his name was not released, Silva said.
