Murder-Free Days End In Seattle

From Staff And Wire Reports

The city’s longest homicide-free period in at least 11 years has ended at 46 days with a slaying in a West Seattle motel.

Connie Fernandez, 36, of West Seattle, died of a bullet wound to the head Wednesday afternoon, about six hours after she checked in.

Police arrested a man believed to be her boyfriend within an hour of the shooting after receiving several tips about a man in blood-splattered clothing running down a busy nearby street. He told detectives he and Fernandez had been playing Russian roulette with his .44-caliber handgun.
