Rapist’s Girlfriend Arrested

From Staff Reports

A Spokane County deputy prosecutor was nearly attacked in a courtroom by the girlfriend of a man who had just been found guilty of rape.

Tammy Ann Peek, 32, approached Deputy Prosecutor Dawn Cortez in Judge Harold Clarke’s courtroom with her hands raised and said she was going to kill Cortez, Sheriff’s Lt. David Wiyrick said.

Two sheriff’s deputies, a Spokane police officer and a public defender were able to intervene and stop Peek from assaulting Cortez.

A jury had just returned a guilty plea against Thomas Scott Austin on a second-degree rape charge when Peek threatened Cortez.

Peek, 5622 N. Eastern, resisted as she was handcuffed and taken to the Spokane County Jail, where she was booked on a felony charge of making threats to kill. , DataTimes
