Samsung Plans Plant In Oregon Or Texas

Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday it plans to build a $1.5 billion semiconductor plant in either Texas or Oregon.

Samsung, the world’s largest producer of computer memory chips, said details have not been finalized for the project, which needs South Korean government approval.

Local news reports said the plant would be completed by the end of 1997 and produce 30,000 chips a month.
