Hazel Tryon Spokane Valley

Hazel (Armbruster) Tryon, Spokane Valley, turns 106 years old today.

Born July 2, 1889, in Coulee, Wash., she attended school in Wilbur, Wash., and has been a resident of Eastern Washington her entire life.

Hazel was married to Bert Partridge, who died in 1922 in a farming accident, and to Arthur Tryon, who died in 1961.

Mrs. Tryon was a wonderful housewife who loved to garden. Her claim to fame was her homemade cinnamon rolls and lemon meringue pies, which her family still remembers.

She had five children: Gladys Wayerski and Dorothy Hayes, both of Spokane, Bob Partridge, Penn Valley, Calif., Don Partridge, Mukilteo, Wash., and the late Claude Partridge.

She has 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Her daughter Gladys, formerly of Wenatchee, where she and her late husband Leonard raised five children, has lived and helped her mother for more than 20 years at their Spokane Valley home. Her granddaughter Jeanne Wright, of Wenatchee, enjoys being caregiver for her “Precious Gram,” helping her mother Gladys out.

When asked what she attributes her longevity to, she replied, “It’s nothing I’ve done, it’s God’s will. I’m grateful for family, friends and all His blessings.” According to family members, her wonderful attitude continues to be a help and encouragement to family and friends.
