Legislative action scheduled this week includes:

Monday

1:30 p.m. Senate Hearing Rm. 1, J.A. Cherberg Bldg., Senate Law and Justice Committee public hearing on SB 5141, increasing penalties for crimes involving alcohol and drugs, and SB 5354, increasing penalties for drunk driving if there are passengers under the age of 14.

Tuesday

1:30 p.m. House Hearing Rm. B, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Health Care Committee final public hearing on the Health Reform Improvement package, which would roll back much of last year’s Health Care Reform Act.

1:30 p.m. House Hearing Rm. A, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Law and Justice Committee public hearing on HB 1099, requiring HIV testing for persons arrested for being involved with prostitution.

Wednesday

3:30 p.m. Senate Hearing Rm. 1, J.A. Cherberg Bldg., public hearing on SB 5000, reducing property taxes, and several other property tax reduction proposals.

Thursday

10:30 a.m. The Senate Education Committee will hold a special public hearing on SB 5440, requiring expulsion from school for at least one year for possession of a firearm on school grounds. The hearing will include testimony from students in five different areas of the state via interactive television. The event will take place at Educational Services District 113, 601 McPhee Rd. SW, Olympia.

Friday

8 a.m. House Hearing Rm. A, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Law and Justice Committee public hearing on HB 1284, requiring parental consent and notice for sexually transmitted disease testing of juveniles.

10 a.m. House Hearing Rm. C, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Higher Education Committee public hearing on HB 1004, allowing state colleges and universities to contract out to private firms for some services.
