T-Birds Score Twice In 3rd To Beat Chiefs Spokane Tries To Rebound Tonight In Coliseum
The Spokane Chiefs faltered in the third period for a second straight night, giving up two late goals in the Seattle Thunderbirds’ 4-3 Western Hockey League victory before 3,841 Friday night at Seattle Center Arena.
The loss, Spokane’s second straight after an eight-game winning streak, means the Chiefs conclude their road trip with four wins in six games. They return to Spokane for tonight’s 7 o’clock game against Kamloops.
Friday night’s loss spoiled the effort of Chiefs star Jason Podollan, whose first-period goal tied the game 1-1 and tied Podollan with teammate Maxim Bets for eighth on the WHL club’s all-time goal-scoring list. Each player has 95 goals as a Chief.
Seattle’s Chris Wells tied it 3-3 at the 5:03 mark of the third period, and Deron Quint provided the game-winner nearly 10 minutes later. Seattle scored the final three goals of the game.
