Police Officers Sue City About Overtime Pay
Six Spokane police officers filed a lawsuit against the city in U.S. District Court Wednesday, claiming the city is violating state and federal overtime pay standards.
The suit names officers Russell A. Cox, Ronald G. Erickson, John C. Stanley, Charles D. Reisenauer, Thomas M. Stanton and Jerry Poindexter as plaintiffs.
Other city employees may join the suit at a later date, court documents say.
Attempts to reach attorney Christopher K. Vick, of Renton, Wash., and the six officers named in the case were unsuccessful.
The plaintiffs are demanding unpaid overtime pay, damages, and attorney fees and court costs.
City Attorney Jim Sloane said he hadn’t seen the case and couldn’t comment until he had.
“I’d like to have a chance to review this with my assistants, and then I’d be pleased to comment,” Sloane said. “I don’t know the issues being raised.”
