A day after winning with the closest margin of the 1995 America’s Cup trials, Stars & Stripes left no doubt when it beat Young America by 1 minute, 33 seconds. The victory was worth four points, pulling Stars & Stripes into a first-place tie with Young America for the Citizen Cup lead with 21 points

CBS Radio and the NFL have extended their contract for an additional four years, giving the network the right to 53 games per season. The package includes 17 Monday night games, 18 Sunday and Thursday night games, two Thanksgiving and four Saturday afternoon games. It also includes 10 playoff games, the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl

South Korea became the first nation to submit a formal bid to play host to the 2002 World Cup. The FIFA’s executive committee will make its final decision in June 1996.
