Whl Coach Disciplined
Brent Peterson, coach of the Portland Winter Hawks, was suspended four games and fined $1,000 for a confrontation with a referee in Tacoma, the Western Hockey League announced.
Peterson, who has served two games of the suspension, initially was suspended indefinitely.
Peterson confronted the referee as he made his way to a dressing room following a Feb. 11 game against the Tacoma Rockets and had to be physically restrained by security guards.
In addition to the fine, the Winter Hawks were instructed to post a $2,500 bond to ensure that a similar incident does not occur during the remainder of the 1994-95 season or in 1995-96.
