Clinton Corliss Spokane
Memorial service for Clinton Clay “C.C.” Corliss, 83, is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Corliss, a retired executive with Big West Oil Co. of Montana, died Wednesday.
He was born in Sumner, Wash.
He graduated from the University of Washington and received a law degree from there in 1937.
He had served with Western Natural Gas Co. and as a director of Fidelity Savings and Loan.
He was very active in civic organizations in Spokane including the Spokane Civic Theatre, Camp Fire, Cheney Cowles Museum, Hutton Settlement, the Spokane Symphony and the Eastern Washington State Historical Society Foundation.
He was a member of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce, El Katif Shrine and The Actors.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Corliss; three daughters, Anne Morris, Maggie Santschi and Mary Jane Shea; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Robert Taylor Spokane
Service for Robert Eugene “Bob” Taylor will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pines Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Taylor, 64, died Wednesday from cancer.
He was born in Bear Springs, Mont.
He operated Bob’s Wheel Clinic in the Spokane Valley for 27 years and retired in January.
Mr. Taylor was a former Montana state champion race car driver. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress and participated in league bowling for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife, Eldora “Duke” Taylor; three sons, Robert and Carlos Taylor and Larry Enger; four daughters, Barbara Taylor, Rheta Taylor Moran, Rhonda Koker and Maxine Enger; one sister, Mary Pallett of Lewistown, Mont.; and 16 grandchildren.
Rose Chalmers Federal Way, Wash.
Graveside service for Rose Chalmers, 80, was Friday at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, Wash.
Mrs. Chalmers, a former longtime Spokane resident, died Wednesday in Federal Way, where she had moved in 1993.
She was born in Spokane.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Corigliano of Spokane and Louis Corigliano of Federal Way; one daughter, Patricia Todd of Des Moines, Wash.; one sister, Helen Guarisco of Spokane; one brother, Fred Polello of Spokane; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Lloyd Wooley Chewelah, Wash.
No service will be held for Lloyd C. Wooley, 70. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wooley, who died Thursday, was born in Addy, Wash.
He was a dairy farmer for 25 years and worked for Northwest Magnesite and Avey Bros. and retired from Plum Creek Timber Co.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bertha Wooley; one son, Jerry Wooley of Chewelah; two daughters, Arola Nelson of Spokane and Bethyne Crowell of Ritzville; one brother, Lee Wooley of Yuma, Ariz; one sister, Freda Harms of Addy, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
William J. Mace Seattle
Memorial service for William J. Mace, 67, was Saturday at Bonney-Watson Funeral Home in Seattle.
Mr. Mace, a former Spokane resident, died Thursday.
He was born in Lewiston.
He graduated from Gonzaga Prep and worked for Armour and Co. for many years.
He moved to Mercer Island in 1968 and had lived the past few years in Seattle.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie; three daughters, Terri Schweizer and Dianne Brooling, both of Port Townsend, Wash., and Mollie Jeglum of Seattle; and four grandchildren.
Ruby (Elliott) Burchell Spokane
Service for Ruby Grace (Elliott) (Hubbard) (Sullivan) Burchell, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Burchell died Wednesday.
She was born in Clinton, Tenn.
She moved to Colfax, Wash., with her family, as an infant.
She married Victor Hubbard when she was 16. They lived on Union Flat near Colfax, in Tyler and in Lacrosse, Wash. He died in 1941 in a car accident.
She and her children then moved to Spokane. She married Leo Sullivan in 1943. He died in 1973.
Her third husband, John Burchell, died in 1986.
She was a member of Mid-City Senior Center, Knights of Columbus Senior Center, and Sinto Senior Center.
Mrs. Burchell is survived by one son, Vic Hubbard of Richland; two daughters, June Sherlock and Glory Merkle, both of Spokane; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
John Dennis Bellingham
Graveside service for John W. Dennis, 83, will be held Wednesday at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, Wash. Evergreen-Staples Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dennis died Dec. 16 at Sehome Park Convalescent Center in Bellingham. He lived there four years.
He was born in Joplin, Mo.
He had lived in Spokane from 1969 until 1989. He worked for the Bonneville Power Administration and retired in 1976.
He moved to Vancouver, Wash., and then to Bellingham in 1991.
He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II.
Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, in 1969, and by his second wife, Mildred, in 1985.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Dennis of Vancouver, Wash., and Pat Dennis of Boulder Creek, Calif.; two daughters, Kaye Tuttle of Palm Springs, Calif., and Linda Van Dyk of Bellingham; one stepdaughter, Linda Roberts of Oroville, Wash.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Doyle Sheldon Harlingen, Texas
Memorial service for Doyle Lester Sheldon, 79, will be held at a later date. Cox Funeral Home in Harlingen, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sheldon, a former Spokane resident, died Friday.
He was born in South Dakota.
He married Kay Eisenbraun in 1939 and they moved to Spokane in 1945. He worked for Darigold for 32 years.
He retired in 1975 and moved to Harlingen in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; two daughters, Lenore Ramos of Harlingen, and Wanda Dawdy of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Inez Maxwell of Yakima, and Doris Larson of Rapid City, S.D.; and two granddaughters.
