Dallas Sprinter Makes Headway

Compiled From Wire Services

Michael Johnson isn’t saying it’s a done deal, but the Dallas sprinter says he has been given every assurance that the Olympic track schedule will soon be adjusted so he can run the 200- and 400-meter races in Atlanta next summer.

Johnson met privately last week with Primo Nebiolo, the imperious Italian who runs international track and field, and Johnson says the meeting went well.

The way the Olympic schedule stands now, Johnson says, competing at both distances isn’t feasible.
