On TV, Film, Stage And The Playing Field, Sex Sells

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Since we only watch celebrities, we have no way of judging their true sexual quotient.

But potential? Well, any number of magazines are out to measure that. And Playgirl is among them. In its list of the top sexy guys of 1995, the magazine includes:

From television: George Clooney of “E.R.,” David Schwimmer of “Friends,” Matthew Fox of “Party of Five” and David Duchovny of “The X-Files.”

From the movies: Hugh Grant of “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” Chris O’Donnell of “Batman Forever” and Vincent Perez of “Queen Margot.”

From the playing fields: Shaquille O’Neal of the Orlando Magic and ex-Raider Howie Long, a sports commentator on Fox’s “NFL Sunday.”

The 10th? Pop musician Babyface.

Loose talk

Actor Peter O’Toole on his liquorish youth (in the London Sunday Express): “I was happy to grab the hand of misfortune, dissipation, riotous living and violence. Regrets? Ah, only French singers don’t have regrets.” Thomas, Rick, T.C. and Robin send their regards

John Hillerman turns 63 today.

Diana’s yule schedule is gone with the Windsors

Princess Diana, first reported to be attending the royal Christmas celebration at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate, has bowed out. Princes Harry and William will stay with their dad, Prince Charles. Diana has not yet finalized her plans.

Some people will do anything to party with The Mouse

Michael Jackson, as we all know by now, is recuperating from his recent collapse at Euro Disneyland. But did you know that: He’s staying in the “Sleeping Beauty” presidential suite? That he flew there on the Air France Concorde? And that while he was in the company of nephews and assorted other children, wife Lisa-Marie Presley Jackson was conspicuously missing?

One more time now, lay your thumb aside your nose…

Sure, O.J. Simpson sent his greetings by video to the weekend party thrown by Johnnie Cochran. But he wasn’t the only no-show. Fellow Simpson lawyers F. Lee Bailey, Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld sent regrets, while original lead attorney Robert Shapiro wasn’t even invited.

Is it, do you think, marked ‘Houseguest’?

So what does another neo-celebrity from the O.J. Simpson trial have to be thankful about? Well, Kato Kaelin has a radio show in Los Angeles. And, he told People magazine, “I’ve got a parking spot. Incredible.”

And there was an extra charge for the cleaning bill

At an auction in New York, film buffs on Monday bought celebrity items that included: a pair of Greta Garbo’s underwear (her gift to actor Gilbert Roland); Sylvester Stallone’s satin boxing trunks from “Rocky”; brown briefs worn by television superman George Reeves; Tom Hanks’ Army uniform for “Forrest Gump”; John Travolta’s black jacket for “Grease”; and Robert Redford’s bat and glove from “The Natural.”
