Snow To Precede Warmer Weather

From Staff And Wire Reports

The National Weather Service promises milder weather ahead with highs in the mid-40s by next week.

There’s only one problem. The warm-up is supposed to start with a snowstorm tonight. Two to four inches are expected, along with a risk of freezing rain.

Cold air remains close to the ground after an Arctic front grazed the Inland Northwest this week. Moist warm air off the Pacific Coast is expected to move ashore late today and scour away the cold air by Sunday afternoon.

The high today will be in the mid-20s, rising to the mid-30s by Sunday and the low-40s by early next week, said Paul Frisbie, forecaster for the National Weather Service in Spokane.

Snow levels could rise to 5,000 feet next week, he said.
