Collins Joins Detroit

Compiled From Wire Services

Doug Collins who loathed the Pistons when they were knocking the stuffing out of his Chicago Bulls between 1987 and 1989, was officially hired as Detroit’s new head coach.

Collins, who reportedly will be paid $6.5 million over five years, replaces Don Chaney. Chaney was fired after compiling records of 20-62 and 28-53 the past two seasons.
