Still No Suspects In Girl’s Murder

Associated Press

Authorities are investigating whether a trail of blood in Regina Krieger’s home means the 14-year-old Burley girl died there.

Seven weeks after her disappearance and several days after her body was discovered along the Snake River, they have no suspects.

Cassia County Sheriff Billy Crystal said investigators suspect a trail of spotty blood that led from her basement bedroom into the backyard may indicate she was killed in the home.

They still are trying to reconcile how she could have been slain in the home without her father or brother, both sleeping upstairs, being alerted.

“It seems odd, if we assume she was taken against her will, that her brother or next-door neighbor didn’t hear something to alert them,” Crystal said.

Krieger was reported missing the morning of Feb. 28, when her father, Daniel, went downstairs to wake her for school. Crystal said it appeared there was no effort to wipe up the blood before police arrived. The girl and her father had an argument the day before, but apparently reconciled, Crystal said.

The girl died after her neck was slashed.
